About Braswell High School
Ray Braswell High School was opened in 2016 and covers the area along U.S. Highway 380. Prior to the opening of the school, families along the 380 corridor had a much longer drive to take their students to either Denton High School or Ryan High School. The state-of-the-art school was designed to enhance learning and collaboration with outdoor learning spaces, expansive classrooms, and dedicated student/teacher conference spaces with integrated technology. Instruction at the school focuses on the future, helping students prepare for college or develop the skills they’ll use in a career.
Braswell High is particularly noteworthy when it comes to its numerous special programs. The school offers everything from dozens of Advanced Placement classes to vocational training classes to the fine arts. There are numerous opportunities for students to develop new skills and discover the interests that are best for them.
The Denton ISD is currently building an addition to Braswell High School which will add a third academic wing to the campus and also add a practice gymnasium. The academic wing will add over 82,000 square feet of offices, classrooms, career, and technology spaces plus a new special needs classroom. The new gym will add another 9,300 square feet.
During the construction project the district will also upgrade the Carrico Athletic Complex, which is adjacent to Braswell High. Once work is completed, the new facility will have a 7,000-seat stadium, a press box of more than 8,000 square feet, three new concessions areas, two video boards, a turf practice field, two new locker rooms, and 989 new parking spaces.
